Atlantic Boba Ltd | Company No. NI738235
Effective: 5 April 2026 | Review: April 2027
1. Policy Statement
Atlantic Boba Ltd recognises that its operations as a food ingredient wholesaler have an environmental impact. We are committed to minimising that impact, operating responsibly and continuously improving our environmental performance.
This policy applies to all operations carried out by Atlantic Boba Ltd, including procurement, warehousing, logistics and administration. It applies to all directors, employees and contractors working on behalf of the business.
The directors of Atlantic Boba Ltd are personally committed to the aims of this policy and take overall responsibility for its implementation.
2. Legislative and Regulatory Compliance
Atlantic Boba Ltd will comply with all applicable environmental legislation and regulatory requirements, including the Environmental Protection Act 1990; the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997; The Packaging (Essential Requirements) Regulations 2015; The Plastic Packaging Tax (General) Regulations 2022; the Climate Change Act 2008 and associated Northern Ireland obligations; and any applicable DAERA (Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs) regulations. We will monitor changes to environmental legislation and update our practices accordingly.
3. Objectives
Atlantic Boba Ltd sets the following environmental objectives, to be reviewed annually:
- Reduce packaging waste generated by outbound shipments year-on-year
- Increase the proportion of recyclable or recycled packaging used in outbound logistics
- Consolidate outbound delivery runs to reduce vehicle movements and associated emissions
- Assess and reduce energy consumption at the Carryduff warehouse
- Evaluate the environmental credentials of logistics partners as part of regular supplier review
- Maintain zero incidents of environmental non-compliance
4. Packaging and Waste
4.1 Atlantic Boba will work proactively with suppliers to reduce unnecessary packaging and will favour suppliers who use recyclable, compostable or reduced-plastic materials, where quality and food safety standards are maintained.
4.2 All waste arising from warehouse operations will be properly segregated, with general waste, cardboard, plastics and food-grade waste separated and disposed of via licensed waste contractors.
4.3 Atlantic Boba will not send avoidable material to landfill where a recycling or recovery option is available at reasonable cost.
4.4 Atlantic Boba will comply with all applicable obligations under the Plastic Packaging Tax where thresholds are met, and will maintain appropriate records.
5. Energy and Carbon
5.1 Atlantic Boba will monitor energy consumption at the Carryduff warehouse and seek opportunities to reduce usage through operational practices and, where practicable, infrastructure improvements.
5.2 Where equipment is replaced, preference will be given to more energy-efficient alternatives.
5.3 Atlantic Boba supports the UK's transition to net zero by 2050 and will consider its own pathway to reducing greenhouse gas emissions as the business grows, including scope 3 emissions associated with logistics and the supply chain.
6. Transport and Logistics
6.1 Atlantic Boba will consolidate orders for the Republic of Ireland into regular scheduled delivery runs, reducing the number of individual vehicle movements.
6.2 Atlantic Boba will promote collection from the Carryduff warehouse as a zero-delivery-emission option for customers who are able to collect.
6.3 When selecting or reviewing logistics partners, Atlantic Boba will include environmental credentials — including fleet emissions standards and sustainability commitments — as part of its assessment criteria.
7. Procurement and Supply Chain
7.1 Atlantic Boba will consider the environmental practices of new and existing suppliers as part of its procurement decisions, alongside quality, food safety and commercial criteria.
7.2 We will request environmental policy documentation from key suppliers and will engage with suppliers to understand and, where possible, improve the environmental impact of products we source.
7.3 Atlantic Boba will not knowingly source products from suppliers engaged in practices that cause serious or unnecessary environmental harm.
8. Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibility for implementing this policy rests with the directors of Atlantic Boba Ltd. Day-to-day environmental responsibilities at the Carryduff warehouse are delegated to the Warehouse Manager.
All staff and contractors are expected to:
- Follow waste segregation procedures at the Carryduff warehouse
- Report any environmental incidents or concerns to management immediately
- Use resources efficiently and avoid unnecessary waste
- Contribute ideas for improving environmental performance
9. Communication and Training
Atlantic Boba will communicate this policy to all staff and contractors. New staff will be made aware of the policy during induction. Environmental responsibilities relevant to each role will be included in role-specific guidance.
10. Monitoring and Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by the directors of Atlantic Boba Ltd, or earlier if there is a significant change in our operations, applicable legislation or environmental risks. Progress against the objectives in section 3 will be assessed as part of this review. Updated versions will be published on atlanticboba.co.uk.
